On The Day of
Your Appointment

Before Your Visit

Before you come in for your first treatment, please print out and complete the Intake Forms and bring them with you.

It will be helpful for you to spend a few minutes pondering the following questions:

- What health issues would you like to focus on?
- What are your expectations?
- What questions or concerns do you have about acupuncture?

You can write down any questions you may have and bring them with you to your first visit.

If you have several conditions you would like to address, please rank them for me. While it is possible to treat more than one issue at a time, and you may discover that some seemingly unrelated health issues resolve together, some conditions cannot be treated simultaneously. We will focus on your chief complaint, although secondary and tertiary issues will also be noted and addressed as treatment progresses.

Some other questions to ponder:

- When did this condition first appear?
- Is this a new condition or an exacerbation of an ongoing condition?
- If there is pain, what kind of pain is it? (dull, stabbing, radiating, constant, intermittent, etc)
- What makes it worse? What makes it better?
- Is your condition impacting your daily routine, work, sleep, menstrual cycle, sex life, etc?
- What time of day/week/month/year do your symptoms appear? At what times are they better and worse?

Women should begin to pay attention to their cycle.

- How many days between periods?
- How many days does the menses last?
- Is there pain? If so, is it before, after or during the menses?

Also pay attention to the quality and quantity of the menses as well as any other changes that may occur throughout the month.

Don't forget to complete the Intake Forms and bring them with you on your first visit.

On the Day of Your Appointment

Please be on time for your appointment so that you and the other patients may benefit fully. When you make an appointment, please understand that time has been reserved for you. There will be a charge for missed appointments without 24 hours notice.

If you are more than 20 minutes late for your appointment, I cannot guarantee that you will be able to receive a full treatment.

The following suggestions are provided in order to help reduce the very unlikely risk of side effects. Please read this section carefully. If you have any questions, please contact me prior to your first visit.

- Please bring your notes and a complete list of current medications and supplements with you. This is very important.

- Do not schedule vigorous activity directly after a treatment.

- Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be rolled up to your elbows or knees.

- Please eat a light meal 2 hours prior to your visit. Acupuncture is not performed on individuals who are fasting. Being hungry increases the risk of nausea or dizziness. By the same token, please do not consume a heavy, greasy meal right before your treatment.

- I will not treat people under the influence of alcohol as this poses a substantial health risk. Avoid alcohol on the day of your treatment. If you come to your appointment under the influence I will be unable to treat you, and you will be charged in full for the appointment.

You will find additional information in our Frequently Asked Questions area. Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions or concerns.
